New nurse thanks ma for topping exam
THE Iliganon lass who top last November’s Nursing Board Exam said her success was all because of her mother, a doctor.
The 28-year-old Claire Morales Bontol, who graduated from the Iligan Medical Center College, Inc. topped all 37,527 passers in the November 2009 Nursing Licensure Examination with an average of 87.80 percent.
Bontol, the only child of Dr. Delia Bontol, said in a radio interview that she was unable to sleep after learning that she topped the board exam.
Her father is a retired employee of the Bureau of Customs Region X, based here.
She said she really “prepared hard” for the examination but was not expecting that she will top it.
A total of 94,462 nursing graduates took last November’s licensure examination.
Aside from her mother, Bontol also credited her two cousins who are also nurse for her success.
However, she has no definite plan yet where to practice her profession.
Bontol got her elementary education from the St. Francis Learning Center. She graduated high school from the St. Mary’s Academy in Barangay Carmen, this city.
Before she pursued her nursing studies, Bontol took up Biology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
But she shifted to nursing and enrolled at the Iligan Medical Center College. Bong D. Fabe
