ANOTHER milestone in the agriculture sector in the municipality of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon is the opening of the 2.548 kilometers road in barangays Lingion and Tankulan.
This was funded under the Mindanao North Coast Integrated Area Development Project (MNCIADP) with a total project cost of P 3,312,400.
Thirty percent of the total project cost was shouldered by the LGU while 70 percent by the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The project will benefit about 281 corn farmers and 20 rice farmers.
There are also about 450 farmers from neighboring barangays who will also benefit the project.
The FMR will also benefit livestock growers, limestone quarrying, industries and institutions located in the municipality.
Lingi-on Punong Barangay Eleazer Onahon expressed his gratitude for the realization of the project.
He believes that with this FMR at the barangay, agricultural activities will flourish and will bring in more income to the constituents.
Likewise, mayor Rogelio N. QuiƱo was very thankful to the government for providing support to the municipality through the establishment of FMR.
He believes that with the passable road, more investors will be putting up their resources in the area that will generate job and provide livelihood income to the residents.
On the other hand, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Lealyn A. Ramos encouraged the farmer recipients to be responsible in the maintenance of the road. The project was given to help them in their agricultural endeavors and will make their economic activities easier and more profitable.
The regional field unit of the Department of Agriculture in Northern Mindanao looks forward that these projects will support the attainment of increased incomes, improved health and well-being, social welfare, poverty alleviation and attainment of quality life of farmers in the area.
The local government unit is also optimistic that barangay Tankulan will become the center of trade and commerce in the municipality.
