IN response to global economic crisis, the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Unit 10 (DA-RFU 10) has distributed 465 goats and 900 swine to Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region through the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
The LGUs were given full authority to manage the continuation of the program.
They are the ones to decide what scheme to use in the dispersal of the animals in order to have more people benefitting from the project.
Three municipalities per province benefited the goat dispersal project and were chosen by Department of Agriculture Central Office.
Each local government unit received 31 upgraded goats composed of 30 does and 1 breeding buck.
Goat dispersal project’s benefitting local government units were Baungon, Kalilangan, and Malaybalay in Bukidnon; Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lala, and Salvador in Lanao del Norte; Mahinog, Sagay, and Mambajao in Camiguin; Salay, Balingoan, and Balingasag in Misamis Oriental; and Clarin, Tudela, and Panaon in Misamis Occidental.
On the other hand, six municipalities per province in the region benefited in DA-RFU 10 CLEEP’s swine dispersal project.
At least 30 native-cross bred fattening swine per municipality were distributed.
These swine were intended for fattening purposes only where benefitting local government units were given authority to plan for the continuance of the project.
Swine dispersal project’s benefitting local government units were Damulog, Manolo Fortich, Maramag, Pangantucan, Talakag, and Valencia City in the province of Bukidnon; Mambajao, Mahinog, Guinsiliban, Sagay, Catarman, and the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) in Camiguin; Kapatagan, Baroy, Bacolod, Tubod, Kauswagan, and Maigo in Lanao del Norte; Alubijid, Laguindingan, Claveria, Binuangan, Gitagum, and Libertad in Misamis Oriental; and Ozamis, Clarin, Tudela, Sinacaban, Panaon, and Jimenez in Misamis Occidental.
It is expected that the project will generate more jobs and livelihood for the residents in the region.
