Divorce among Filipinos

I met a couple that barely touched the soil of America and they were already asking me to separate them forever. I refused outright to support their idea although I know so well how to handle the matter and I could have charged them for the service.

The words “let no man put them asunder” are very strong in my ears and I would surely feel the guilt if I ever support one. I rejected it like the  other cases brought to me in the past.
I have been a paralegal practitioner for a good number of years and handled a lot of cases.  I never referred to a lawyer such a case because I feel guilty especially if the cases are contested. To me marriage, no matter how bitter and bad it maybe,  should be preserved.

Many couples resorted to legal action right away upon arrival and were all very eager to get a divorce. Of course, most of the reasons are the old rift back home and the prospect of having a new family.
Some individuals, I supposed, are imagining beautiful things to happen with new husband or a wife especially with White people or other nationalities, which are abundant in America.
The vision for the future is very wide and open to new arrivals that plan a general change in their lives. It should be enjoyed and not abused.

Sad to state, however, a lot who were so eager to jump to the lake hurriedly express regrets later because of some ugly result.  In some cases it turn out the new partner is worse than the old one.
In one case a wife lamented so much her second husband is a devil when it comes to liquor, women and gambling. Her former husband now appears to be a lost saint and lost forever.

Divorce here is so easy to get. The interested party can pick up a form from a store. All he does is fill in the blanks and file it in the appropriate office. In a short period, things go fast  is legal  nationwide and some states are giving it even easier. Hear of a woman who got married twenty times?
To me divorce is not a joke. It is not an to act to end quarrels or disagreement between husband and wife.  It is an act that destroys the wishes of God  and dismantle the beautiful gift from haven that should be taken care well.
It may still be taken on extreme reasons like when the marriage endanger the family or the life and interest of a spouse. It should never be resorted to for pleasure or as a way to find new things in the heart.
