Check and fix for PC users
Q1: How can I transfer video from my MiniDV Camcorder to the PC?
A: Two ways. Go to the nearest electronic store that sells a cord that has a mini phone plug in one end and three RCA plugs at the other end (yellow, white, red). Yellow normally is for video & the two other plugs are for audio. If you have it better since that is really for your camera output. You need a video capture card (PCI or USB) like the K-World DVD Movie Maker or a similar device from Pinnacle. You also need the video capturing software that comes with the capturing device. If Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable is available try it using Ulead Videostudio version 10 or higher installed in your PC. Your PC must have the Firewire port to do this.
Q2: How can we transfer tapes to a PC (desktop or laptop)?
A: Tapes can be audio tape or video tape. For audio tape, use a sound cable or cord that plugs into your tape/cassette player thru the audio out or phone out and the other end is plugged into the PC or Laptop line in (usually blue) or microphone in (usually red). Run sound recording software (like Cool Edit Pro or Adobe Audition) to record your tape. For video tapes, you need a video capturing device or the Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable. A little tedious process.
Q3: Can I use a USB flash disk as a music player?
A: A USB flash disk is a storage device like a small HDD or memory card. You need to plug it on something that can read and play the songs (music files) like a DVD player with USB port, a TV set with USB port, a PC or what have you.
Q4: I have only 64mb video card, dual core processor, 2 GB RAM. Can I install windows 7?
A: No problem with windows 7 in your PC. Go ahead. Just don’t expect to play heavy games in your machine.
Q5: I have a laptop & a 42” HD Plasma TV, when I connect laptop to the TV & tune the TV to RGB nothing happens. What could be done?
A: If you have the right cable (VGA/RGB) connecting the laptop and the TV, configure the display setting of the laptop to have dual display (or clone mode). Select the appropriate video input setting of the TV (VGA or RGB). S-video is also an option. If you have the s-video port on both plus the S-video cable then same configuration works. If resolution is a problem, try 1024x768 or 800x600.
